Experimental Forestry - CD

A special release for my performance at Steve Roach's SoundQuest festival in August 2026, "Experimental Forestry” collects 80-minutes of textural excerpts from my ongoing home recording experiments from October '25 to January '26. These spiraling, long-form pieces stem from multiple days'-long sessions of generative, unattended ambience which provided ongoing background music to my everyday life and activities, wherein I would set things in motion, then leave the house or go to sleep, and just let the machines work themselves into vast flowering entities. I would return only periodically to add textures or adjust settings, instead enjoying the unfurling soundscapes as a passive observer. At times subtle & droning, while at others quite melodic, but always immersive - these four tracks were basically all I could listen to while packing the initial 500 orders of "Demystification//Forestscapes” while under considerable distress last Winter. Higher fidelity than my typical demos, yet too amorphous to be a proper album, they are instead a document of those in-between times, both in life and in sound. Nevertheless, I find this material to retain a certain environmental, meditative quality that I keep returning to on late night drives, early morning flights, or any similar situations where the mind is best left quiet.
